Information about Lyndon State College degree requirements, registering in a technical degree program to develop job skills, and taking free practice tests online. To prepare for graduate school, students can enhance their regular schedule by adding online classes. Distance education reduces the need for high-priced, physical course textbooks. Many textbooks are now available as e-books on Kindle, or as shareware. Online education can open up the opportunity to take difficult courses that won't show up on your transcript, if you so choose. Alternatively, you can complete additional credits for a grade.

Earning an advanced degree isn't as hard as it may seem, and by combining work-study or internships with your class schedule, you can defray the additional tuition costs. Your increased earnings potential in the job market will far outweigh the years you invest in your education. Even while you're still a student, you should think about earning a part-time income online. A few simple steps will help you start your own e-Commerce business. The easiest way to start is by authoring a daily blog, and monetize your traffic with Google Adsense. You can drive targeted visitors to your site at a reasonable cost by learning search engine optimization (SEO) techniques. You can also make money with affiliate programs, or charge monthly membership fees, if making certain types of Android OS websites. Just web page design and layout isn't enough, if no-one can find it in Google search results. You'll also need online marketing skills.

Online Courses - MOOCs

Lyndon State College degree requirementsThe college degree majors with the best starting-salaries after graduation include physical sciences, business administration, and engineering. Pursue your career interests, not high-paying starting salaries, and your overall job earnings will reflect the enthusiasm that you bring to your work, increasing over time as you gain business experience. If you focus your prospective degree choice on salary alone, there is the risk that you may suffer early signs of burnout, and be forced to change careers.

Technical training programs are a low-cost alternative to attending college, and you might end up earning a lot of money as a highly-skilled, technical consultant, or by starting your own small business. Massive Open Online Courses are known as MOOCs, and offer a variety of learning platforms, utilizing cloud-based software and Google apps.

An online degree may be just as marketable as a college degree earned on campus. Udemy online learning, a site which allows anyone to build (or take) online courses, is a new startup with backing from the founders of Groupon. Khan Academy now offers over 3,900 micro-lectures available via YouTube. Coursera, another online-learning software platform, has millions of enrolled students around the world. Through MIT Open Courseware online classes, educators can improve development of their curricula, making their instruction more effective.

Technical Degree Programs

The financial crisis has only strengthened the need for people trained in computer programming, healthcare, and small business management. An associates degree is a two-year program that either results in an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree. Some careers that require an associates degree include dental assistant, occupational or physical therapy assistant, and licensed practical nurse (LPN). Generally, the more math and science courses you take in your program, the more competitive a salary you will receive upon graduation. The greatest downside to an associates degrees in the job market is that you will be competing with individuals with bachelors degrees. Therefore, make sure you're comfortable in the niche you've chosen.

Although the cost of tuition has risen for most 4-year colleges and universities, the average community college student graduates with only a few thousand dollars of debt, compared to bachelors degree graduates. If you're planning on transferring to a four-year program anyway, an associates degree program can save you a lot of money in the first two years of your college education.

Business & Medical Job Listings

Although most jobs which pay six-figure salaries require a college degree, technical fields offer high salaries based more on ability than which school you graduated from. Students will impress future bosses more with an impressive portfolio than with an advanced degree, so practice your skills as a consultant for local companies. Candidates with prior industry experience are preferred by interviewers, so you resume must show a clear pattern of success over time, based on numeric results and personal achievements.
